We’re working with a specialist engineering consultancy that’s growing its UK team and looking to hire a permanent HV Cable Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on major UK and international energy infrastructure projects, offering strong autonomy and technical variety.

Role Overview

You’ll be involved in high-voltage (HV) cable system design up to 525kV. Your work will span all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to detailed installation designs.

Responsibilities include:

  • HV cable route assessments and feasibility reports
  • Thermal analysis of cable systems (including FEM)
  • Design reviews, 3D modelling, and installation drawings
  • Technical documentation, specs, and constructability input
  • Factory inspections, FAT witnessing, and client support
  • Impressed voltage and fault studies
  • Interfacing with civil design teams for cable structures and foundations

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in HV cable design (132kV and above)
  • Solid grasp of UK grid codes, standards, and safety practices
  • Experience with FEM tools and cable system calculations
  • Comfortable managing documentation and client communication
  • Able to contribute to design assurance and reviews
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
