Major GPS are on the search for a Transport Planner to join the Transport Division assisting/coordinating with the running of a fleet of over 150 vehicles, being controlled from 3 manufacturing sites and 7 out-bases across the UK. Our client is a market leading, fast-paced manufacturing company completing over 5,000 deliveries nationwide each week. As Transport Planner, we are interested in chatting with professional people who are keen to develop a career within a busy transport department, planning and completing general administration overseeing around 200 drivers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with planning the drivers and fleet both onsite and at the regional out-based depots to achieve set planned deliveries nationwide.
  • Efficient routing of the fleet to maximise and maintain customer service whilst ensuring legal compliance with driver working hours and fuel utilisation.
  • Assisting the rest of the team in other functions within the office.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Interest in starting a career within the distribution sector.
  • A high level of customer service.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to manage your own work time to achieve timed daily duties.
  • Able to work within a small team.
  • Able to pass instructions on directly to the drivers.

The position comes with a generous salary and package, the working hours are Monday to Friday - 8.30am-5.00pm. Hybrid work available upon completion of training. We are looking for individuals who can be flexible as the role will require you to be available to communicate with drivers outside of the standard working hours as required.
