GPS Recruitment have an amazing new role for a Transport Manager. This is the ideal opportunity for someone with existing transport and vehicle management experience looking for a new challenge in an extremely large and fast-paced environment. As Transport Manager within a large manufacturing business, you will manage the operations, planning and administration teams, along with the daily responsibility of a dedicated fleet of around 200 drivers. Being successful in this role, you must hold a current TMCPC licence, have at least 5 years’ experience controlling a large fleet (200+), be confident making quick decisions and have exposure to current new changes with technology.

Key duties:

  • Maintaining strong relationships with vehicle suppliers and manufacturers. Ensuring vehicles and trailers are roadworthy, managing service providers; ensuring defects, service inspections and MOTs are carried out in accordance with maintenance agreements.
  • Ensure that all DVSA compliance standards as well as the company's own compliance standards are always adhered to, including timely scheduling for PMI, MOT, drivers' routine checks and proactive maintenance.
  • Investigate any missing mileage from Tachograph reports (Monthly Reporting on Vehicle Compliance - PMI/Tacho/MOT/LOLER).
  • Managing vehicle accidents and working with our current insurers. Ensure all incidents and accidents reported are fully investigated and actions taken as necessary via Driver Trainer.
  • Ensuring forward planning, MOT and Service slots ahead of time so as not to affect overall fleet availability to the operation.
  • Authorising and scrutinising vehicle repairs and invoices/recharge on a fleet covered under R&M.
  • Assist in all other duties related to the maintenance and running of the fleet as required.
  • Driver technical phone support and guidance.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A high standard of computer literacy, particularly MS Office applications.
  • TM CPC holder.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Transport Management within a large fleet operation.
  • Experience of FORS Accreditation is desirable.
  • User experience of Transport Systems - Tachomaster, TMS, 3rd Party Service systems (Daf Check/Truckfile) desired.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, at all levels.
  • Have a proactive, flexible approach.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and a working knowledge of IT systems.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, however, the role will require you to be available to drivers out of standard working hours as required.
