GPN Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded 5+ Partner accountancy firm in Central London who are seeking an experienced Client/Practice Senior Bookkeeper to join its growing team. This is a varied, client-facing position supporting a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, limited companies, investment businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The successful candidate will take ownership of bookkeeping assignments and provide wider accounting support, working closely with the firm’s Partners and clients. You'll also enjoy hybrid working in this role.
The firm is particularly interested in an experienced and self-sufficient bookkeeper who can manage their workload with minimal supervision. Both full-time and part-time applicants may be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing bookkeeping assignments for a varied portfolio of clients
- Maintaining complete and accurate accounting records
- Posting journals and completing control account reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Preparing periodic management information
- Supporting clients with payroll-related information where required
- Reviewing client bookkeeping records and resolving discrepancies
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and respond to queries
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
- Supporting more junior members of the team where appropriate
- Working closely with Partners and the wider accounts team
Qualifications Skills:
- Significant bookkeeping experience gained within a UK accountancy practice or client bureau environment
- Strong double-entry bookkeeping and journal-posting knowledge
- Experience preparing VAT returns
- Confident managing multiple client assignments and deadlines
- Able to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Experience with cloud-based bookkeeping software
- AAT qualification would be beneficial, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered
- Previous management accounts and payroll exposure would be advantageous
