Excellent firm of chartered accountants based in Essex are looking for an audit manager to join their team.

About the Role

An established, high-growth UK accountancy and business advisory practice is seeking an ambitious Audit Manager to join their Essex office. This is an excellent opportunity for a post-qualified audit professional to take full ownership of a diverse client portfolio, lead audit assignments from start to finish, and work closely with office Partners to drive team success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit Management: Lead full-cycle audit engagements for a varied portfolio of SMEs and corporate clients in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and ISAs.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior audit staff, providing ongoing coaching and career development.
  • Client & Partner Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for client leadership; report key findings and technical insights directly to Responsible Individuals (RIs) and Partners.
  • Commercial Performance: Monitor job budgets, billings, and WIP targets to ensure timely and profitable project delivery.

Key Requirements

  • Qualification: Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven post-qualification experience managing audit engagements within a UK accounting practice.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong command of UK accounting standards and International Standards on Auditing.
  • Leadership & Communication: Excellent client-facing skills with experience managing and developing staff.
