Nursing Delivery Lead for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £27 - 35 per hour
Location: Tonypandy
Shift Pattern:
- Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
- Saturday: No scheduled appointments, may be added later
- Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55
Start: September 2026
Responsibilities:
- Re-confirm participant details before commencement of appointment
- Complete height, weight and waist measurements; take heart rate and blood pressure checks and input data into the system
- Draw the two blood samples, label and store correctly in fixed and mobile locations
- Check the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required
- Offer signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant
- Prepare boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
- Have at least one year of active experience drawing blood, validated through competency checklist and references
Additional Requirements:
- Provide clinical leadership to Healthcare Support Workers
- Focus on day‑to‑day delivery of excellence in quality care provision, ensuring clinical governance and compliance targets are met and services are safe and seamless
- Supernumerary role providing additional support for HSW breaks
- Responsible for staff attendance and scheduling
- Report directly to the Chief Nurse
- First point of escalation for operational queries
Background:
- Over 1,000,000 participants over the age of 18
- A six‑day per week service, running Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, open from 07:50 to 18:10
- The service will be delivered across Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland, in moving vehicle services
Patient Care Cycle:
- 15‑minute appointment per participant inclusive of:
- Confirming participant identity
- Verifying participant consent
- Completing the following tests: blood pressure and heart rate (x2); height; weight; waist circumference
- Obtaining two 6 ml EDTA venous blood samples
