HCA Phlebotomist for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £16‑22 per hour
Location: Peterhead
We are looking for HCAs/Phlebotomists competent in Phlebotomy (must have certificate or competency sign off) for the following locum contract. Please email your full availability, CV and certificate if you would like to be put forward and we will be in touch.
Essential Requirements
- Must be able to drive in Manual
- Must be over 25 years old
- Hold a clean Drivers Licence
Shift Pattern
- Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
- Saturday: No scheduled appointments, maybe introduced further on in the project.
- Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55
Responsibilities
- Responsible for re-confirming participant details before commencement of appointment
- Responsible for completing height, weight and waist measurements captured; taking heart rate and blood pressure checks and inputting result data on the system
- Responsible for drawing the two blood samples, labelling and storing correctly in fixed and mobile locations
- Checking the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required
- Offering signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant
- Responsible for preparing boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (as validated through competency checklist and references during recruitment process)
Background
- Over 1,000,000 participants aged 18 and over
- A six days per week service, running Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, and open from 07:50 to 18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility to participants
- The service will be delivered across various regions in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland, comprising of moving vehicle services
- A 15‑minute appointment per participant, inclusive of:
- Confirming participant identity
- Verifying participant consent
- Completing the following tests: Blood pressure measures and heart rate (x2); height (cm); weight (kg); waist circumference (cm)
- Obtaining venous blood draw (2 x 6 ml EDTA samples)
- Providing the participant with any information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
