Nursing Delivery Lead for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £27 - 35 per hour

Location: Paisley

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
  • Saturday: No scheduled appointments (may be introduced later)
  • Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55

To start November 2026

Responsibilities

  • Re-confirm participant details before the appointment.
  • Record height, weight, waist measurement, heart rate and blood pressure; input results on the system.
  • Draw two blood samples, label and store correctly in fixed and mobile locations.
  • Monitor participant welfare throughout the appointment; escalate as required.
  • Provide signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant.
  • Prepare boxes containing samples for courier collection.
  • Provide clinical leadership to healthcare support workers.
  • Focus on day-to-day delivery of quality care, ensuring clinical governance and compliance targets are met.
  • Supernumerary role offering additional support for HSW breaks.
  • Manage staff attendance and scheduling.
  • Report directly to Chief Nurse.
  • Act as first point of escalation for operational queries.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Nurse competent in Phlebotomy.
  • Minimum 12 months of management experience overseeing HCAs/Nurses.
  • Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references).
  • Competent in health checks including measuring blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight, waist circumference and performing venous blood draws (2 x 6 ml EDTA samples).

Background

Service delivers one 15-minute appointment per participant, inclusive of:

  • Confirming participant identity.
  • Verifying participant consent.
  • Completing tests: blood pressure, heart rate (x2), height, weight, waist circumference.
  • Obtaining venous blood draws.

The service operates six days a week, Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours. It is available across Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland, using mobile vehicle services. Providing the participant with any information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
