Nursing Delivery Lead for Health Checks
Responsibilities:
- Re-confirm participant details before commencement of appointment
- Complete height, weight and waist measurements; take heart rate and blood pressure checks and input result data into the system
- Draw the two blood samples, label and store correctly in fixed and mobile locations
- Check the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required
- Offer signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant
- Prepare boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
- Provision of clinical leadership to Healthcare Support Workers
- Focus on day-to-day delivery of excellence in quality care provision, ensuring all clinical governance and compliance targets are met, services are safe and delivered seamlessly
- Supernumerary role which can provide additional support for HSW breaks
- Responsible for staff attendance and scheduling
- Report directly to Chief Nurse
- First point of escalation for operational queries
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references)
Background: Service runs Monday to Sunday, six days per week, linked to laboratory opening hours, open 07:50–18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility for participants. Service delivered across various regions in Northern Ireland, Wales.
