HCA Phlebotomist for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £16 - 22 per hour
Location: Newtown
EHCs/Phlebotomists competent in phlebotomy (must have certificate or competency sign off) are needed for a locum contract. The position starts in November 2026. Salary £16 - £22 per hour.
Shift Pattern:
- Mon‑Fri: 07:50‑18:10
- Saturday: no scheduled appointments (may be introduced later)
- Sunday: 10:50‑15:55
Essential Requirements for driving outreach vehicles:
- Must be able to drive a manual vehicle.
- Must be over 25 years old.
- Hold a clean drivers licence.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm participant details before appointment.
- Collect height, weight, waist measurements, heart rate and blood pressure and input data into the system.
- Draw two blood samples, label and store correctly in fixed and mobile locations.
- Check participant welfare and advise as required.
- Provide signposting, advice and guidance to participants.
- Prepare boxes containing samples for courier collection.
- Provide participant with information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
- Have a minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references during recruitment).
Qualifications:
- Certificate or competency sign off in phlebotomy.
Background:
- Over 1,000,000 participants aged 18 and over.
- A six‑day‑per‑week service, Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, open from 07:50 to 18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility to participants.
- The service will be delivered across Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, involving moving vehicle services.
