The predicted salary is between 16 - 22 £ per hour.

We are looking for HCAs/Phlebotomists competent in Phlebotomy (must have a certificate or competency sign off) for the following locum contract.

Location: Inverness

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:50 - 18:10
  • Saturday: No scheduled appointments, maybe introduced further on in the project.
  • Sunday: 10:50 - 15:55

To start August 2026

Requirements:

  • Responsible for re-confirming participant details before commencement of appointment.
  • Responsible for completing height, weight and waist measurements captured; taking heart rate and blood pressure checks and inputting result data on the system.
  • Responsible for drawing the two blood samples, labelling and storing correctly in fixed and mobile locations.
  • Checking the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required.
  • Offering signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant.
  • Responsible for preparing boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier.
  • Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references during recruitment process).

Background:

Over 1,000,000 participants over the age of 18. A six‑day‑per‑week service, running Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, and open from 07:50 to 18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility to participants. The service will be delivered across various regions in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland, comprising moving vehicle services.

Appointment Details:

A 15‑minute appointment per participant, inclusive of:

  • Confirming participant identity.
  • Verifying participant consent.
  • Completing the following tests: blood pressure measures and heart rate (x2), height (cm), weight (kg), waist circumference (cm).
  • Obtaining venous blood draw (2 x 6 ml EDTA samples).
  • Providing the participant with any information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
