HCA Phlebotomist for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £16 - 22 per hour
Location: Holyhead
Shift Pattern:
- Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
- Saturday – No scheduled appointments, maybe introduced further on in the project.
- Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55
To start December 2026
Essential Requirements for driving Outreach Vehicles:
- Must be able to drive a manual vehicle
- Must be over 25 years old
- Hold a clean Driver's Licence
Responsibilities:
- Re-confirm participant details before the appointment
- Complete height, weight and waist measurements; check heart rate and blood pressure; input data into the system
- Draw two blood samples, label and store them correctly in fixed and mobile locations
- Check the participant's welfare throughout the appointment and raise escalation if needed
- Offer signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant
- Prepare boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
- Ensure all procedures are compliant and safe
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate or competency sign‑off in phlebotomy
- Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood, verified via competency checklist and references
Background:
Approximately 1,000,000 participants over the age of 18. A six‑days‑per‑week service running Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, open from 07:50 to 18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility. The service will be delivered across various regions in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland, with moving vehicle services.
Appointment Details:
A 15‑minute appointment per participant, inclusive of:
- Confirming participant identity
- Verifying participant consent
- Completing tests: Blood pressure and heart rate (x2); height (cm); weight (kg); waist circumference (cm)
- Obtaining venous blood draw (2 × 6 ml EDTA samples)
- Providing the participant with any information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
