HCA Phlebotomist for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £16‑22 per hour

Location: Glasgow South

We are looking for HCAs/Phlebotomists competent in phlebotomy (must have certificate or competency sign‑off) for a locum contract. Please email your full availability, CV and certificate to be considered.

Essential Driving Requirements

  • Must be able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Must be over 25 years old
  • Hold a clean driver’s licence

Shift Pattern

  • Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
  • Saturday: No scheduled appointments (may be introduced further on in the project)
  • Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55

Start date: February 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Re‑confirm participant details before appointment
  • Complete height, weight and waist measurements, and take heart rate and blood pressure checks, recording results in the system
  • Draw the two blood samples, label and store correctly in fixed and mobile locations
  • Check participant welfare throughout the appointment and raise any concerns
  • Provide signposting, advice and guidance to participants as appropriate
  • Prepare boxes containing samples for courier collection
  • Maintain a minimum of one year of active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references)

Qualifications

  • Certificate or competency sign‑off in phlebotomy
  • At least one year of active experience drawing blood

Background

  • Service will serve over 1,000,000 participants aged 18+
  • Continuous operation Monday to Sunday, aligned with laboratory hours
  • Service delivered across Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, involving mobile vehicle services

Appointment Details

  • Appointment duration: 15 minutes per participant
  • Services include: confirming identity, verifying consent, taking blood pressure, heart rate (x2), height, weight, waist circumference, and obtaining venous blood draw (2 × 6 ml EDTA samples)
  • Participants receive information based on test results where relevant
