HCA Phlebotomist for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £16 - 22 per hour

Location: Cumbernauld

To start: November 2026

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
  • Saturday – No scheduled appointments, possibly introduced later
  • Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55

Requirements:

  • Confirm participant details before appointment.
  • Measure height, weight, waist; take heart rate and blood pressure, input results into system.
  • Draw two blood samples, label, store correctly in fixed and mobile locations.
  • Check participant welfare during appointment, escalating as required.
  • Offer signposting, advice, guidance to participants as relevant.
  • Prepare boxes containing samples for courier collection.
  • Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood, validated through competency checklist and references.

Background:

Over 1,000,000 participants aged 18 or older. Six-day-per-week service, Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours from 07:50 to 18:10 for maximum accessibility. Service delivered across various regions in Wales & Scotland, including mobile sites and moving vehicle services. 15‑minute appointment per participant, including:

  • Confirming identity
  • Verifying consent
  • Blood pressure and heart rate (x2); height, weight, waist circumference
  • Venous blood draw (2 x 6 mL EDTA samples)
  • Providing participant with information based on tests conducted (where applicable).
