Nursing Delivery Lead for Health Checks & Phlebotomy – £27 - 35 per hour

Location: Bangor

We are looking for experienced Nurses competent in Phlebotomy and have 12 months management experience or more overseeing HCAs/Nurses. Please email your full availability, CV and certificate if you would like to be put forward and we will be in touch.

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:50 – 18:10
  • Saturday: No scheduled appointments, may be introduced further on in the project.
  • Sunday: 10:50 – 15:55

To start December 2026

Requirements:

  • Responsible for re-confirming participant details before commencement of appointment
  • Responsible for completing height, weight and waist measurements captured; taking heart rate and blood pressure checks and inputting result data on the system
  • Responsible for drawing the two blood samples, labelling and storing correctly in fixed and mobile locations
  • Checking the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required
  • Offering signposting, advice and guidance to participants as relevant
  • Responsible for preparing boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
  • Minimum of one year’s active experience drawing blood (validated through competency checklist and references during recruitment process)

Additional Requirements:

  • Responsible for the provision of clinical leadership to Healthcare Support Workers
  • Focus on the day-to-day delivery of excellence in quality care provision, ensuring all clinical governance and compliance targets are met, services are safe and delivered seamlessly
  • Supernumerary role which can provide additional support for HSW breaks
  • Responsible for staff attendance and scheduling
  • Reports directly to Chief Nurse
  • First point of escalation for operational queries

Background:

  • Over 1,000,000 participants over the age of 18
  • A six days per week service, running Monday to Sunday, linked to laboratory opening hours, and open from 07:50 to 18:10 to ensure maximum accessibility to participants
  • The service will be delivered across various regions in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland, comprising moving vehicle services

Appointment Details:

  • A 15-minute appointment per participant, inclusive of:
  • Confirming participant identity
  • Verifying participant consent
  • Completing the following tests: Blood pressure measures and heart rate (x2); height (cm); weight (kg); waist circumference (cm)
  • Obtaining venous blood draw (2 x 6 ml EDTA samples)
  • Providing the participant with any information based on tests undertaken (where applicable).
