Senior Primary Electrical Design Engineer based in Foxt, Staffordshire, West Midlands, England. Permanent position with a salary of Β£80,000 to Β£90,000 per annum. The role is for an experienced EHV Substation Primary Design Engineer to lead complex EHV substation projects and contribute across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept design through detailed design and construction support.

Responsibilities

  • producing primary electrical designs for substations up to 132kV,
  • developing single-line diagrams,
  • substation layouts,
  • equipment schedules and technical specifications,
  • preparing engineering calculations and technical documentation,
  • supporting AIS and GIS substation projects,
  • coordinating with protection and control,
  • civil engineering and project delivery teams,
  • attending design reviews and technical workshops,
  • ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards,
  • supporting tender submissions,
  • and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate.

Requirements

  • a degree,
  • HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline,
  • experience with EHV and HV substations,
  • knowledge of protection and control systems,
  • familiarity with National Grid, DNO, ICP, renewable energy or battery storage projects,
  • experience with AIS and/or GIS substations,strong communication and problem-solving skills,
  • the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams,
  • and a full UK driving licence.
