Navis is partnered with an established global organisation seeking a Director, Hydrodynamics to provide technical leadership across fleet and newbuilding activities. The role serves as a senior technical subject matter expert in hydrodynamics, propulsion efficiency, environmental impact, and related regulatory matters, working closely with internal technical and operational stakeholders.

Responsibilities include leading a cross-functional hydrodynamics working group, coordinating technical priorities and initiatives, providing expert guidance on vessel propulsion and hydrodynamic efficiency, supporting the implementation of technologies and best practices that improve performance, maintaining knowledge of hull coatings, propeller and hull maintenance, biofouling management, and underwater cleaning technologies, and supporting monitoring and reporting of propulsive performance and hydrodynamic efficiency. The role also involves identifying emerging technologies, maintaining awareness of R&D activity, supporting research in priority areas including underwater radiated noise, monitoring regulatory developments, representing the organisation in industry working groups and forums, and maintaining a technical library of projects, research, and lessons learned.

Requirements include a university technical degree or equivalent, a strong technical background in Naval Architecture and Ship Hydrodynamics, in-depth knowledge of ship hydrodynamics, experience leading complex technical projects and managing significant budgets, strong strategic and analytical capability, excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and the ability to provide technical leadership and influence senior stakeholders.
