We are currently recruiting for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a global engineering and manufacturing business operating at the forefront of fluid-flow technology and advanced engineered solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Supplier Quality professional to play a key role in developing and supporting a high-performing supply chain across manufacturing and engineered product environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for supplier auditing, qualification, quality improvement, and supplier performance management, ensuring compliance with industry standards while driving continuous improvement across supplier operations. The role is primarily based in Droitwich but will involve regular travel to supplier sites across the UK and occasional travel within Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Qualification & Auditing
- Conduct supplier audits including initial, process, and surveillance audits
- Assess supplier compliance against ISO9001, ISO3834, PED, and company quality standards
- Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and capability assessments
- Monitor supplier approvals, certifications, and ongoing supplier performance
- Supplier Development & Performance Management
- Drive supplier quality improvements across quality, delivery, and process capability
- Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and supplier recovery plans using structured methodologies including 8D
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, and Production teams to align supplier capability with business requirements
- Maintain supplier scorecards, KPIs, and supplier risk assessments
- Technical Quality Support
- Review supplier quality documentation including weld procedures, inspection reports, quality plans, and material certifications
- Support validation and approval of new or modified supplier components and assemblies
- Participate in PPAP, FAIR, and product validation activities
- Ensure compliance with pressure equipment and safety regulations where applicable
- Continuous Improvement
- Promote Lean Manufacturing, defect reduction, and process improvement initiatives across the supplier base
- Support quality improvement projects focused on cost reduction, supplier performance, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to cross-functional improvement and new product introduction activities
Requirements
- Previous experience within a Supplier Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Assurance role within manufacturing, HVAC, fabrication, or engineered products environments
- Strong supplier auditing experience with knowledge of ISO9001, ISO3834, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) requirements
- Technical understanding of fabrication, welding, CNC machining, assembly, and inspection processes
- Experience using structured quality tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work closely with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly to supplier sites
Desirable Experience
- Degree or formal qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, or Quality disciplines
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification (IRCA or equivalent)
- Knowledge of industrial materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, and copper
- Experience within regulated manufacturing or engineered product industries
