We are partnering with a specialist manufacturer in South Gloucestershire seeking an Engineering Manager to take ownership of their low-voltage battery charging and DC power systems. Unlike high-voltage EV OEM environments, this business focuses on practical, embedded, and applied low-voltage engineering solutions, combining standard and bespoke product development with servicing, repair, and long-term customer support. The role
You will be the technical authority for low-voltage battery charging and DC power systems, leading product development and improving engineering performance across design, manufacturing, and field applications. This role is both hands-on and strategic - you'll own the product roadmap while actively solving real engineering problems. You will also play a key role in shaping the future of the engineering team, including capability development and succession planning.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead development of 12V/24V battery chargers and low-voltage power systems
- Drive innovation in battery charging, recovery, and DC power management
- Own and evolve the product roadmap for low-voltage electronics solutions
- Improve design for manufacture, testing, and product reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve real-world issues across design, production, and field use
- Mentor and develop engineers within a growing technical team
- Support long-term succession planning and engineering leadership growth
