We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Fabrication Technician to join a leading advanced engineering and prototype manufacturing environment based in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to support low-volume prototype and development builds across a range of high-performance engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in manufacturing and modifying components for specialist build and test operations.

The Role

  • Set, operate, and program 3-axis CNC milling machinery
  • Manual turning and milling of prototype and low-volume components
  • Manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Support fabrication and welding activities where required
  • Carry out self-inspection and quality checks on completed work
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards within the workshop
  • Work independently and collaboratively to provide machining solutions
  • Support continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations

Essential Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent within Mechanical Engineering / Machining
  • Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC machinery
  • Manual lathe and milling experience
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Experience machining a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Strong understanding of basic measurement and inspection principles
  • Good problem-solving ability and capable of working independently
  • Basic PC skills

Desirable Experience

  • ProtoTRAK SMX control experience
  • Experience operating XYZ machinery
  • Fabrication and welding experience
  • CAD software knowledge
  • Overhead crane, slinging, and lifting experience
  • Understanding of H&S, COSHH, and environmental procedures
