We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Fabrication Technician to join a leading advanced engineering and prototype manufacturing environment based in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to support low-volume prototype and development builds across a range of high-performance engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in manufacturing and modifying components for specialist build and test operations.
The Role
- Set, operate, and program 3-axis CNC milling machinery
- Manual turning and milling of prototype and low-volume components
- Manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Support fabrication and welding activities where required
- Carry out self-inspection and quality checks on completed work
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards within the workshop
- Work independently and collaboratively to provide machining solutions
- Support continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations
Essential Experience
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent within Mechanical Engineering / Machining
- Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC machinery
- Manual lathe and milling experience
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience machining a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Strong understanding of basic measurement and inspection principles
- Good problem-solving ability and capable of working independently
- Basic PC skills
Desirable Experience
- ProtoTRAK SMX control experience
- Experience operating XYZ machinery
- Fabrication and welding experience
- CAD software knowledge
- Overhead crane, slinging, and lifting experience
- Understanding of H&S, COSHH, and environmental procedures
