Are you an experienced Paint Quality Engineer with a strong background in automotive paint processes and appearance standards? We are seeking a hands-on professional to support a high-performance automotive manufacturer in delivering flawless paint quality across premium vehicle production. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity at their Woking facility, working closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to reduce defects, optimise processes, and ensure the highest customer-visible finish.

This role requires full-time on-site presence (5 days per week) to support fast-paced production and shop-floor quality activities. 32.00 - £38.00 per hour (Umbrella Pay Rate) - Inside IR35 ~ Immediate start (6 month contract) with strong potential for extension ~ Opportunity to work on premium automotive programmes.

The Paint Quality Engineer will take ownership of paint quality performance, focusing on defect reduction, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement. Collaboration with Production, Manufacturing Quality, Engineering, and Compliance teams will be key to resolving appearance issues and supporting new model introductions.

  • Own paint quality performance for assigned models, workstations, or processes.
  • Maintain work instructions, PFMEAs, and inspection guides with clear ownership.
  • Proven experience in automotive paint quality (OEM, Tier 1, or high-end bodyshop).
  • Knowledge of paint technologies (water/solvent-based, clearcoat, composite substrates).
  • Proficient with quality tools: Familiar with metrology tools (DOI, orange peel, spectral analysis) and appearance standards.
