Job Overview
This is the key management role within the Practice with responsibility for supporting a wide-ranging agenda through the delivery of patient-centred, safe, effective primary healthcare services to the registered patients of the Practice. The post holder will work closely with the Practice team to lead the delivery of the GMS Contract and associated services to the Practice population. The post holder will use specialist knowledge to lead the delivery, contract management and long-term strategic planning of the Practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead service development and improvement, evaluating through performance management and lead the production and delivery of specific plans and projects to develop the Practice to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.
- Act as the day‑to‑day contact for resolving highly complex contract management issues that arise within the Practice.
- Provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information where there are barriers to understanding or acceptance, overcoming them using developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate appropriate analytical ability, comprehension skills, intellectual capacity and knowledge of relevant contract/legislation, regulatory frameworks, performance management and financial arrangements.
- Balance overall strategic leadership with the requirement to ensure that day‑to‑day operational challenges are dealt with quickly and effectively, delegating responsibility to members of the multidisciplinary team while retaining overall accountability.
Qualifications
- Robust leadership and communication skills.
- Well organised and highly motivated.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational accountability.
- Experience in contract management and performance management within a primary care setting is desirable.
- Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
