We are a forward-thinking team who work closely to shape the delivery of care, ensuring it remains patient focussed and evidence based. We are looking for an additional GP to join our team. The practice is part of Cardiff East Cluster, a harmonious group of four surgeries that collaborates to deliver projects to benefit our local community.

Main duties of the job:

  • Deliver core GMS services and extended services
  • Non-onerous on-call commitment that is rotational fairly amongst the clinical team and proportionate to sessions worked.

We have a population of almost 19,000 patients with two sites and a varied demographic from deprivation to affluence. Our ethos is to provide exceptional patient care while also providing a supportive and collaborative environment for our staff.

About The Practice:

  • 2-site GMS practice (St. Mellons and Roath)
  • EMIS clinical system with EPS being integrated in Aug 2026
  • 6 Partners
  • 6 Nurses (two of which are IPs) & 1 HCA
  • Training practice supporting medical and nursing students, pharmacy students, DPP and GPST rotation placements.
  • Non-onerous on-call commitments

  • Strong management team and a supportive and dedicated reception and admin team.
  • Progressive IT team to maximise income whilst reducing clinician workload.

Job responsibilities:

Example Job Plan: Each salaried GP session is made up of 4 hours and 10 minutes. This is broken down into 2 hours 50 minutes for clinical work, 50 minutes for admin work and 30 minutes for professional development. Typically, a morning session will be 8.30am - 1.00pm, and an afternoon session will be 2.00pm - 6.30pm. When delivering a routine clinic, flexible start times are offered. The daily clinical duties shall include appointments, visits, telephone queries from patients or other healthcare professionals with allowance for difficult cases requiring more time and the need to make urgent referrals. Administrative work shall include processing blood test results, sick note requests, workflow, prescription signing, referrals, research studies, and any other relevant admin. Clinical time is appropriately reduced for medical student or GP trainee teaching/training/mentoring, and overseeing clinics such as INR clinics. Appropriate time for practice team meetings. Protected time for continuing professional development (CPD) which could include in-house meetings, private study, time off in lieu for external educational events outside of normal working hours that are relevant to the practice (no monetary remuneration), etc. One hour is provided for lunch break.
