Are you an experienced NPI Engineer with a background in new product introduction, supplier quality, and programme launches within automotive or advanced manufacturing?

  • Full-time, site-based role in Woking, Surrey

We are supporting a high-performance automotive manufacturer in their search for an NPI Engineer to join their Surrey-based manufacturing team on a contract basis. Supporting new vehicle programmes from prototype through to Start of Production (SOP), you'll ensure supplier readiness, component quality, and programme milestones are achieved. A strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T is essential.

Role Overview

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Programme teams, and suppliers, you'll support all aspects of NPI, ensuring components meet quality, timing, and production readiness requirements while resolving technical and supplier quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support NPI activities from prototype through to SOP
  • Manage APQP and PPAP deliverables
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
  • Support prototype and pre-production builds, resolving quality issues
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D
  • Assess supplier readiness, manufacturing capability, and quality processes
  • Identify and escalate risks impacting programme delivery
  • Report on supplier readiness, launch progress, and open actions

Experience:

  • Experience as an NPI Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Launch Engineer or similar within automotive or advanced manufacturing
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience supporting NPI and programme launches
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8D problem solving
  • Understanding of machining, composites, and assembly processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Must have the independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
