We are looking for a proactive and hands‑on Senior Battery Test Technician to support the operation and maintenance of advanced battery testing facilities. This role is key to ensuring testing activities run safely and efficiently while delivering high-quality data to support the development of next‑generation battery technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of battery test equipment and facility systems.
- Carry out test setup activities including rig assembly, instrumentation installation, electrical connections, and cooling system connections.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test specifications.
- Support logistics, material handling, and storage activities, including forklift truck operation where required.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and operational procedures.
- Ensure tooling and equipment remain calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment and facility issues, escalating where necessary.
- Support 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement activities across the facility.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Forklift truck training and/or experience.
- Electrical wiring experience including harness creation, modification, soldering, crimping, and testing.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
- Practical fabrication and assembly skills.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, Risk Assessments, COSHH, and MSDS.
- Understanding of HEV and BEV powertrain systems.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Computer literate with experience creating technical or process documentation.
- Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with battery or powertrain test equipment.
- High‑voltage working experience.
- CAN/CANalyser knowledge.
- Test facility or laboratory experience.
- Level 4 qualification in an Engineering, Science, or Mathematical discipline.

You’ll be a motivated and adaptable technician who enjoys working in a fast‑paced engineering environment. You will be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of tasks, and supporting wider team objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
