About the team

Our Inquiries and Investigations team handles high-profile and complex matters for a diverse range of clients. We provide targeted legal and strategic advice, collaborating across various stakeholders to protect our clients' interests. Our team has supported entities such as the Home Office, Ministry of Defence, Cabinet Office, Department for Health & Social Security, Financial Reporting Council, Ofqual, large housing associations, care home providers, local authorities, and non-departmental public bodies. We offer opportunities for varying contract lengths between 6-24 months. If you are available for a specific duration, please specify this in your application.

About the role

  • Support the Gowling WLG team in inquiries, investigations, reviews, and other inquisitorial processes.
  • Provide advice on witness statements, draft statements, and support witnesses.
  • Analyze high-volume, complex information, identifying key documents and materials.
  • Lead disclosure and document review work, supervising paralegals and team members.
  • Attend hearings to support witnesses.
  • Manage own workload effectively, often as part of a larger team.
  • Participate in team training and develop related skills.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by Partners or Senior Managers.

About you

We seek Lawyers/Barristers for 6 to 24 months on a full-time basis (35 hours/week). Candidates should have experience in Document Review, Investigations, or Inquiries projects and hold a valid England & Wales practising certificate. Ideally, you will hold SC Security Clearance. Please provide your SC certificate or confirmation details with your application.
