Responsibilities
- Carry out and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs in line with the grade and current maintenance plan requirements as directed by their Production Leader.
- Prepare surface by cleaning, sanding, scraping and priming.
- Mix paints accurately to the required specifications for each vehicle.
- Apply paint, topcoats, varnishes and other finishes primarily using roller but also including brushing and spraying techniques.
- Repair and spray components in spray booth.
- Conduct inspections to ensure product meets standards; troubleshoot and resolve any related issues.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Carry out basic routine maintenance of spray booths and L.E.V systems.
- Comply with safety systems and procedures at all times.
- Update maintenance records within company systems.
- Carry out non-maintenance related activities (e.g. crane, scissor lift, etc.) as directed by your Production Leader and where competent to do so.
- Carry out all other duties where trained and competent to do so.
Qualifications
- Must be able to achieve ASE2 vehicle builder competency.
- Minimum of two and a half years of relevant painter experience.
- Be able to meet the requirements of a job‑specific medical.
- Able to meet the competency requirements for safety and task‑specific training.
- Familiar with (or able, with training, to become familiar with) rolling stock maintained or repaired by GTR.
- Be willing to learn new skills appropriate to the role.
- Proficiency in surface preparations and mixing.
- Positive and professional attitude with good working relationships.
- Ability to effectively solve problems in a safe and effective manner.
