About the role
As Safety Business Partner, you will partner with the senior management teams of the Directorates, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective safety plans that reflect both their risk register and specific needs, and that robust means to monitor, amend, and deliver these plans exist. You will have a focus on either the teams within the COO or CCO structure but will identify and collaborate over shared risks as required. You will also provide insight focused Safety and Health advice and reflect business needs, challenges, and priorities back into the wider Safety, Health & Security function. You will provide your area of the business with a single point of contact.
We are looking for someone who can bring the following experience to this role.
- Experience
- Proven experience in a similar Health and Safety role, ideally within public sector and/or transportation, rail, and other high-risk environments.
- Proven experience to influence the importance of a safety culture and systems within an organisation both amongst peer groups and to a wider audience.
- Experience of producing reports and correspondence and giving clear oral reports/presentations.
- Skills
- Proven communications and engagement skills; has been responsible for engaging leaders and supporting complex safety plan delivery programmes to improve health and safety culture within organisations.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and engage positively with individuals at all levels to drive through a strong safety agenda.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
- Champion innovation and change; able to create understanding and excitement for change and the broad range of levers that need to be ‘pulled' to drive change.
- Strong collaboration skills, including working across organisational boundaries.
- Strong ability to work in a highly pressurised environment to very tight time constraints and to high quality.
