Do you have a passion for customer service? We are currently looking for talented individuals who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer service. You will often be the first point of contact our customers will meet on their journey and it is therefore a vital role for making our customers' day. Key to your role, at all times, is being visible and anticipating the needs of the customer to meet their expectations.

As a RCO/Gateline Assistant, you will be a key member of staff whose role in the station and on-train environment, including the customer's journey, is of prime importance. You will be expected to provide a higher than expected level of information, as well as a feeling of safety, security, wellbeing and protecting the revenue of GTR. You will provide a warm greeting to customers in a polite and professional manner at all times.

Your duties fall into four main categories:

  • Revenue protection – prevent fare evasion and protect revenue streams.
  • Customer service – assist and guide passengers.
  • Security – ensure safety and compliance.
  • Information provision – give accurate travel information.

We require individuals who can work clearly and accurately under pressure, think logically, literally and creatively. The following qualities are essential:

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to change.
  • Professional behaviour at all times.

These roles cover 24 hour operation. Shift times require you to live in the local area with independent transport to ensure arrival for early shifts, as train services may not be available. All station-based roles may involve standing for long periods and working shifts including weekends, nights and bank holidays.
