Join an Independent, Family-Owned Practice That Genuinely Values Its Team
GoVets is an independent, family-owned and RCVS-accredited veterinary practice in Manchester, and we’re looking for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing clinical team.
We’re incredibly proud to be the highest-rated veterinary practice on Google in the North West, with thousands of reviews from pet owners who have trusted us with their animals.
But we’re just as proud of the team behind those reviews.
GoVets isn’t part of a corporate group. We’re independently and family owned, and that family ethos extends to the people who work with us.
We treat our team like part of our family.
That means supporting each other, listening to each other and creating an environment where people feel genuinely valued. We want you to enjoy coming to work, feel supported while you’re here and have the time and energy to enjoy your life outside of work too.
Please note: this position is not suitable for new graduates. We’re looking for an experienced vet who is comfortable managing their own medical and surgical caseload.
A Practice Built Around Our Team
We’ve invested heavily in our facilities, equipment and people so that our vets have the environment and support they need to practise veterinary medicine to a high standard.
Our facilities include:
- 3 general consultation suites
- Dedicated Cat Clinic with 2 additional consultation suites
- 3 state-of-the-art surgical theatres
- Dedicated dental suite
- Digital X-ray facilities
- Full on-site laboratory
- Separate cat and dog waiting areas
- Staff kitchen and breakout areas
- Showers and changing facilities
- Free on-site parking
You’ll work alongside an experienced team of veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses, receptionists and dedicated support staff.
We believe vets should have the time and support to concentrate on what they trained to do — look after their patients and practise great veterinary medicine.
The Role
No two days at GoVets are exactly the same.
You’ll see a genuinely varied caseload, from routine preventative healthcare through to emergency surgery and more complex medical and surgical cases.
Depending on your experience and clinical interests, your day may include:
- Routine consultations and preventative healthcare
- Routine surgical procedures
- Emergency and urgent cases
- Caesarean sections
- Complex medical and surgical cases
- Second-opinion consultations
- Dental cases
- Ongoing case management and follow-ups
Standard consultations are scheduled for 15 minutes, with 30–60 minutes allocated where appropriate for complex cases and euthanasia consultations.
We also understand that your workload doesn’t end when the consultation does.
You’ll have protected time during your working day to review cases, assess laboratory results, update clients and complete clinical administration.
You’ll receive a one-hour lunch break, and we allocate time for clinical discussions, team catch-ups and proper case handovers between shifts.
Your Life Outside Work Matters Too
We know how demanding veterinary medicine can be.
We want people to build long‑term careers at GoVets, and we don’t believe that should come
