Be the First Sales Hire Who Defines a Category
What if you could join a company solving a problem that boards of major enterprises are losing sleep over—and you would be the one building the entire sales motion from the ground up?
THE OPPORTUNITY
governr is the world’s first independent AI trust scoring platform, think FICO score, but for third-party and AI risks. We’re solving a problem that CTOs, CROs, and CFOs at tier-1 financial institutions literally cannot answer: "What is our actual AI risk exposure?" Regulators and external stakeholders are now sending letters asking enterprises to demonstrate AI risk management in 30 days. Traditional TPRM and risk approaches with generic "high/medium/low" ratings and hundreds of questionnaires and manual assessments simply don’t work. We have built AI specific risk factors with precise financial quantification, 300+ surgical regulatory mappings, and real-time monitoring that catches third-party changes within hours. The market is waking up right now. Every competitor RFP includes third-party AI verification. Every board meeting has "AI risk" on the agenda. And we’re pushing the frontier here with some of the best minds in AI, risk and finance. This is your chance to be Employee #1 in sales at a company building the category-defining standard and infrastructure for third-party and AI risks.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (AND WHY IT MATTERS)
- You won’t be handed a script and told to smile-and-dial. You’ll be architecting the market facing engine:
- Build the pipeline: Use LinkedIn, X, events, content creation, and growth hacking tactics to engage CTOs, CROs, AI leads at top-50 banks, hedge funds, insurers, asset managers and AI platforms.
- Own the sales cycle: From first cold outreach to signed contracts, you’ll learn enterprise sales with products that have 3-6 month cycles and £50K-£250K+ Contract Values.
- Create the playbook: Email template, every demo flow, every objection handler, you’re writing the playbook that the next 10 salespeople will use.
- Work directly with founders: Daily collaboration with our CEO and the founders. Your feedback shapes product roadmap, pricing strategy, and company direction.
- Become a category expert: You’ll learn AI risk, regulatory frameworks (ISO 42001, CSA, EU AI Act, DORA, GDPR, MIT, NIST AI, SIG), and financial risk management at a depth that makes you genuinely valuable to clients, and highly marketable in your career.
The impact? Your first 5 clients don’t just represent revenue, they become anchors that unlock the next 50. You’re not filling a quota; you’re opening a market.
WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE
You’re not looking for "a sales job." You’re looking for the opportunity where you can 10x your career trajectory. You are:
- A natural growth hacker: You’ve generated pipeline through creative LinkedIn campaigns, viral social media, publication threads, or content that makes teams actually reach out to YOU.
- Hungry and ambitious: 2-3 years of experience, but you’ve outgrown being an SDR at a 5,000-person company where your impact is measured in "calls per day." You want ownership, equity, and the chance to build something.
- Technically curious: You can learn complex concepts (AI model risk, financial quantification, regulatory compliance) and explain them clearly to a CFO who’s never heard of "bias drift."
- Social media savvy: You know how to craft a LinkedIn post for engagement, X for visibility, how to turn insights into content that attracts decision-makers.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: No sales playbook exists yet. No artificial constraints. You’ll figure out what works through experimentation, measurement, and iteration, and you prefer it that way.
- Relationship-focused: You genuinely enjoy consultative conversations with smart people solving hard problems. You’d rather have 5 deep relationships with CROs than 100 surface-level connections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pipeline Generation: Create multi-channel outreach campaigns (LinkedIn, email, content, events) that generate 10-15 qualified meetings per month with target personas.
- Social Selling Mastery: Build governr’s presence on LinkedIn, build and engage the community through thought leadership content, industry commentary, and strategic engagement that positions us as category experts.
- Full-Cycle Sales: Own the entire sales process from prospect identification through close, including discovery calls, product demos, proposal creation, and contract negotiation.
- Client Education: Translate complex AI risk concepts into compelling business cases for non-technical executives (CFOs, Board members) who need to understand exposure in budget terms.
- Market Intelligence: Become an expert on competitive landscape, regulatory changes, and client pain points—feeding insights back to product and leadership teams.
- Sales Process Design: Document what works, iterate on what doesn’t, and build repeatable systems for lead scoring, outreach cadences, demo best practices, and closing techniques.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate relationships with complementary partners in the AI and platform providers which accelerates market traction.
REQUIREMENTS
Must-Haves:
- 2-3 years B2B SaaS sales experience (SDR/BDR or early AE roles).
- Proven track record of creative pipeline generation: Show us a LinkedIn campaign that worked, a piece of content that generated inbound, or an outreach strategy that broke through noise.
- Social media expertise: Active on LinkedIn (1,000+ connections), understand platform algorithms, know how to create engagement.
- Technical aptitude: Can learn and explain complex products (bonus if you’ve sold into FinTech, RegTech, or technical audiences).
- Growth hacker mindset: Comfortable with experimentation, A/B testing, data analysis, and rapid iteration.
- Self-starter mentality: Need minimal direction, high ownership, entrepreneurial spirit.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience selling into financial services or regulated industries.
- Background in compliance, risk management, or GRC software.
- Existing network of CRO/CTO/CFO relationships.
- Content creation skills (writing, video, podcasting).
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Unlimited earning potential = aggressive commission structure tied to ARR growth (your first £1M in sales = life-changing comp).
- Build your own playbook = complete autonomy over sales strategy, outreach tactics, and how you spend your time.
- Learn from the best = direct mentorship from founders with deep expertise in AI risk, banking, and scaling start-ups.
- Career acceleration = in 18 months you could be VP of Sales managing a team, or taking new leadership role in the business.
- Impact a market = every client you close helps banks, fintechs, and enterprises deploy AI safely—this matters.
