Who we are

Open Government Products (OGP) operates like a startup within government. We are a team of engineers, designers, and product managers who build technology for the public good. We work in small, autonomous teams to identify areas where technology can improve lives, test prototypes with users, and bring the best ones to launch. We use and release open‑source software, keep a flat hierarchy, and bypass bureaucracy to deliver concrete impact to the public.

About the role

Data.gov.sg is Singapore’s national open data platform. We’re on a mission to help people make better decisions in business and society, by providing high‑quality data for free. Here’s how open data on data.gov.sg has created real impact in the world:

• Weather APIs (lightning, temperature, floods etc.) are used for airport flight planning, food delivery operations, drone operations and to determine heat stress in construction sites.
• Our Singapore Elections map was explored over 4 million times by voters to access data on candidates, electoral boundaries and past results.
• Health and medical licensing datasets help save >10,000 man hours annually on manual certification checks.
• Various geospatial datasets on HDB buildings, water sensors, and land parcels are used by real‑estate companies, banks, and infrastructure companies for industrial planning.

As Lead / Senior Product Manager of data.gov.sg, you will:

• Drive the vision and strategy - What does the world look like if we maximize the potential of open government data to support decision‑making? How can we get there?
• Build a world‑class product - Ship features that public consumers need to efficiently consume data, leverage data in applications or make decisions. Build seamless data pipelines, tools and incentives for government agencies to make high‑quality data available.
• Understand the landscape of open data products deeply.
• Structure positive feedback loops between the public and government - Such that government agencies know which datasets are valuable to public consumers and can prioritize them.
• Grow the reach of data.gov.sg in the data community - So individuals and organisations at varying levels of data literacy can easily discover and leverage helpful open datasets.

What we’re looking for

You know data. You’ve worked with datasets, or built data products. You deeply understand the needs of data consumers and users, because you are one yourself. You are familiar with data querying, architecture, pipelines, visualisation, tools and technologies. You’re passionate about open data and public impact. You have a vision for how open data can benefit the public, and you’re excited to bring that to life. You care about the well‑being of society, beyond making good numbers. You’ve shipped good products. You have a track record of shipping good products end‑to‑end: from problem discovery and validation, to defining a clear vision, prototyping, UI/UX and technical guardrails. You’re confident engaging senior stakeholders to drive results. The PM of data.gov.sg will need to build strong relationships with CDOs and C‑level executives in government, responding to her incentives and constraints to drive the availability and quality of open government data. We’re looking for someone who will be comfortable and energized in this role.

Products we have built include:

• Vaccine.gov.sg - First built for COVID vaccination booking, this portal has now expanded to provide fuss‑free booking for a host of vaccine options at nearby clinics, aiming to protect members of public from preventable diseases.
• ActiveSG - Gateway for Singaporeans to book public sports facilities, register for fitness programmes, and stay active as part of a national movement toward healthier living.
• Parking.sg - A mobile app alternative to parking coupons. It lets users pay, extend, and get refunds for parking sessions on their phones.
• FormSG - A form builder enabling any public officer to launch a secure form in minutes. Our goal is to replace paper forms in public services.
• Isomer - A website builder enabling government agencies to launch and manage user‑friendly, fast and secure websites.
• RedeemSG - Most well known for supporting CDC voucher campaigns, RedeemSG helps the public agencies to distribute user‑friendly digital vouchers for varying purposes.
