The Technical Security Delivery Manager role has a significant part to play in overseeing the delivery of new security projects and services for the DWP estate. They will ensure the successful delivery of complex security transformation projects involving the replacement of electronic security controls provided through the DWP supply chain. In doing so you will ensure best practice, innovation, and a cost-effective approach is applied throughout the life of the project.

An exciting opportunity, the post-holder will grow the Departments security functionality, identifying security and business benefit opportunities whilst improving performance, reducing costs and maintaining the high standard of security expected across the DWP estate.

Key accountabilities

  • Manage the complex, technical delivery of security projects within DWP from inception to completion. Strategic planning with electronic security systems to ensure the estate is ‘futureproofed’ against aged and obsolete systems. You will help develop and enhance the Departments electronic security controls and systems, including maximising its data to improve overall security performance, business benefits and safety.
  • Accountable for supplier delivery management within Critical Security Infrastructure (CSI) Programme , you will help manage supplier engagement to ensure all contract obligations are being met and where necessary take corrective action to improve performance and supplier fulfilment. You will help define a clear understanding of the security complexities involved through changes in security contracts whilst resolving complex issues through to resolution.
  • Providing leadership on the management and processing of Data generated from the electronic security controls in line with GDPR legislation and DWP policies.
  • Working closely with DWP Stakeholders you will identify any security requirement or enhancement to systems including technical changes to ensure the satisfactory delivery of CSI. Responsible for developing DWP’s own security standard, you will work in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure standards operate in line with DWP, industry and HMG security standards.
  • You will also focus on reducing costs, improving service delivery, encourage innovation and benefits realisation. You will work collaboratively with CSI and its suppliers to develop early corrective actions and improve performance.
  • You will work with the DWP Estates Performance & Audit team to help develop a performance framework setting out performance data and reporting requirements aligned to contractual obligations. Employing a RIBA plan of work and best practice you will support a review of performance, identifying opportunities for benefits realisation in both CSI and the Security Control Centre (SCC).
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements of security services and programme delivery across the estate including Data Protection, Financial and Enterprise Security Resilience Management (ESRM) colleagues.
  • Lead engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, influencing outcomes positively including providing professional security leadership to DWP Stakeholders, OGD’s and Supply Chain Leads. This will include providing specialist security Subject Matter Experts expertise to DWP, its clients and across the DWP estate.
