The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a Staff Officer – Technical Service. As the operational arm of the MCA, HM Coastguard delivers six critical missions: Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security, and Emergency and Disaster Management. The Technical Services team plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and advancement of the systems that underpin these missions. Working closely with operational managers, information technology specialists, and international partners, the team provides expert guidance, develops future system requirements, and ensures compliance with national and international standards. This is an opportunity to influence technology that supports life‑saving operations and maritime safety across the UK and beyond.

Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and oversight of Coastguard technical systems that support six critical missions.
- Provide expert technical advice and guidance to senior managers and stakeholders.
- Develop future system requirements and manage user acceptance testing for new systems.
- Act as senior user and business change manager during system implementation projects.
- Ensure compliance with national and international maritime regulations and standards.
- Represent the UK as a subject matter expert in national and international working groups.
- Identify and recommend improvements through performance reviews and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with IT and procurement teams to manage service level agreements and system performance.
- Oversee and monitor Coastguard technical systems to ensure high‑quality operational delivery.
