The MCA is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport, providing multiple statutory functions as flag, port and coastal State and delivering international obligations for search and rescue, environmental protection and responding to major maritime incidents. The Finance function is a key enabler for the Agency to ensure we can deliver against this remit. As part of the Corporate Services Directorate, Financial Strategy and Planning is responsible for managing the medium‑term financial plans (MTFP) of the Agency and ensuring that its total budget is deployed in an efficient and value for money way. This role sits within the Financial Strategy and Planning Team and works closely with the Savings and Efficiencies Lead, Finance Business Partners, the Directorates, and the Dept of Transport (DfT) Strategy Finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a Medium‑Term Financial Plan for the Agency, underpinned by a robust understanding of key cost drivers and aligned to the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Working with the Finance Business Partners, support the development and implementation of credible financial plans at Directorate level.
- Working with Finance Business Partners to support monthly end and year‑end duties.
- Undertake scenario modelling on the medium‑term financial plans to support business decisions.
