As Commercial Manager within UK Customer Maritime Services (UKCMS), you’ll champion the UK Maritime Offer, lead high value industry relationships, and promote the UK as a competitive, innovative flag state. Working with government and industry partners, you’ll drive growth, investment and international engagement. This pivotal role ensures UKCMS delivers a strategic, customer focused service that strengthens the long-term success and global influence of the UK maritime sector.

Responsibilities

  • Service Leadership: Support the UK Shipping Concierge service, ensuring it operates as a strategic gateway for maritime businesses engaging with the UK Government. Promote the UK Maritime Offer, support inward investment, and facilitate access to cross-government expertise.
  • Key Account Management: Manage the Key Account Management (KAM) function, ensuring strategic, high-quality relationships with key UK Flag customers, shipowners, operators, and maritime service providers. Ensure continuity of service and proactive engagement aligned with the UKCMS customer strategy.
  • Economic Development: Drive initiatives that support the growth of the UK maritime sector, including promotion of the UK Flag, Tonnage Tax regime, and wider UK maritime incentives. Collaborate with DfT, DBT, HMRC, Home Office and the National Shipbuilding Office to align efforts to build compelling propositions.
  • Stakeholder Representation: Represent the MCA and UKCMS at national and international forums, including trade missions, shipping events, and industry roundtables. Promote the UK as a global maritime hub and gather market intelligence to inform policy and service design.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Provide strategic leadership on stakeholder engagement, ensuring coherent and consistent messaging across UKCMS brands. Manage relationships with trade associations, international partners, and other government departments.
  • Communications and Promotion: Support the development and delivery of communications and engagement strategies, including digital presence, social media, and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of the UK’s maritime offer and support customer acquisition and retention.
  • Ministerial and Senior Official Support: Support ministerial and senior official engagement through the preparation of briefings, submissions, and responses to parliamentary and stakeholder enquiries related to UK shipping, economic development, and investment promotion.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Management: Ensure all stakeholder and key account engagement activities are accurately recorded within the UKCMS records management system(s).
