Are you passionate about delivering the high quality content that people need? We’re looking for experienced content designers to work on services that make a difference to people’s lives. A content designer is a user-centred designer who specialises in content, usually words. They make things easy for people to understand and use by designing how information is structured. They use evidence to design the content users need at every point in their journey – for example a GOV.UK page, a digital application form, navigation elements, button text, error messages, emails and letters. Putting users' needs at the heart of their work, a content designer makes people's interactions with government as simple as possible. A senior content designer is an expert practitioner who develops content strategy and solutions for large-scale problems.

At this role level, you will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to design user-centred journeys and content
  • Promote consistency, good practice and standards
  • Build professional relationships to influence an increasingly user-centred approach to strategies
  • Lead, organise or contribute to events and initiatives for your local, DWP or cross-government community of practice
  • Line manage, coach, mentor and develop working level practitioners
  • Help to assess content design needs and lead on recruitment exercises and induction in your area

Please note: As part of the role, you may be required to travel regularly to the other digital hubs. The frequency of this will be discussed further should you be successful.
