Following recent legislative changes, the North Criminal Investigation Team is seeking a dynamic and resourceful individual to manage the team across the North of England and Scotland. This role involves overseeing criminal investigations and disruption tactics related to insolvency and corporate criminal offending, supporting the agency\’s goal to combat financial wrongdoing. The successful candidate will collaborate with Civil Investigation Teams, the Legal Services Directorate, and other law enforcement partners to achieve positive outcomes.

The North Criminal Investigation Team is looking for a capable Investigation Manager responsible for leading investigators, supporting prosecutions, and working with law enforcement agencies to optimize judicial outcomes. Reporting to the Chief Investigator, this role involves managing operational objectives and leading cases under legislation such as the Insolvency Act 1986, Fraud Act 2006, and others, including Scottish legislation and ECCTA 2023.
Responsibilities
The role is based in NWRC Manchester, with a hybrid working model requiring attendance at the office, court, and site visits. Regular travel and occasional overnight stays are expected for stakeholder meetings, witness interviews, and court appearances.
Your main duties include:
- Leading and managing Investigation Officers, including apprentices and trainees, conducting criminal investigations in accordance with government standards and legislation such as PACE, RIPA, CPIA, GDPR.
- Overseeing team work, case allocation, and providing guidance to ensure investigations are timely, compliant, and of high quality. You will also liaise with solicitors, attend court, and represent the agency with stakeholders and media.
- Collaborating internally with legal and investigative teams and externally with law enforcement, insolvency practitioners, prosecutors, and regulatory bodies to ensure enforcement actions are effective and efficient.
- Supporting the Chief Investigator in leading the CIT North, fostering a network of Investigation Crime Managers for consistency and continuous improvement.
- Managing and developing your team of investigators, enhancing their skills and professionalism.
- Contributing to the development of best practices and embedding government counter-fraud standards within the agency, including acting as an assessor for ongoing accreditation of investigators.
