This role sits in This role sits in the Estates Directorate within the Strategic Alignment and Business Oversight Team. The post holder will be joining an energetic, vibrant team, which plays a vital role in gathering, interrogating and presenting intelligence and data to understand and assess performance against the departmental plan. You will expertly manage your work, and your teams to ensure objectives are met.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Reporting and Planning Officer to join the Strategic Alignment and Business Oversight (SABO) team who will thrive in a busy and complex environment.

The SABO team is a key function within the wider estates, we support SLT to develop and implement the strategy. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the team to report progress toward the strategic ambitions, utilising data to inform a risk based approach.

Key Accountabilities

  • Controls and Reporting– Collate pertinent data from a range of different stakeholders through all levels of DWP. Presenting the data in a timely and accurate fashion, ensuring a golden thread of connectivity between overarching DWP Estates Strategy and individual team plans.
  • Analysis – critically evaluate the data including the interpretation based on established criteria and, delving deeper and making judgements based on this evidence.
  • Document and Information Management– Manage and lead the SABO team in their Document Controller and admin duties, with a view to standardising and maintaining filing structures.
  • Specialist Support– Maintain an existing Project Risk Register activity. Support the SABO Team in their management and monitoring of risk actions with respective risk owners.
  • Stakeholder Management – Develop a stakeholder framework providing a structured approach to identify, analyse and manage relationships with individuals and/or groups that will be essential to the development of reports.
  • Assurance– the Senior planning and reporting officer will organise and chair assurance meetings and provide workstreams leads with required reporting, including gap analysis.
  • Team Member - the Senior planning and reporting officer will be flexible in their approach supporting the overall team, providing appropriate challenge where appropriate.
  • The successful candidate will be able to integrate into a geographically dispersed Programme team, working across boundaries and provide expertise, leadership and motivation to drive forward the Programme’s strategic aims.
  • Reporting directly to one of the SABO Strategy Leads, you will be responsible for regular reports, providing the senior management team with data that provides progress against overall plans.
  • A key element of the data capture will be via stakeholder engagement, maintaining these relationships is essential.
  • Lead on the development and updating of monthly performance and planning dashboards and reports. These are reportable and accountable to both Senior and Functional Leadership Team governance forums
  • Leading on regular reporting for Estates In-Year and Departmental Strategic Plans, working in collaboration with Estates and wider departmental stakeholders to ensure that the right information is available at the right time to effectively monitor delivery and progress.
  • Working in collaboration with wider Estates plan and task owners to understand where performance may be at risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement and iteration of business planning and reporting.
