Join DVSA’s mission to make roads safer and more efficient by shaping the future of digital public services. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and evolving high-impact digital platforms and services that serve millions across the UK.
We’re looking for experienced Senior DevOps Engineers to join DVSA’s Cloud Platform team, working with teams to automate, operate, design and build cloud services. You will be expected to work from requirements, high and low-level design without the need for direct supervision and will be responsible for the development and delivery of well-designed and executed infrastructure, software and data management solutions, using Agile methodologies.
You will coach, support and mentor individuals including Junior/Apprentice engineers and Developers within the Cloud Infrastructure domain. You will be committed to quality and will promote quality infrastructure engineering techniques within the team, including pipeline, code and design reviews, reusability of code, refactoring, and use of internal and industry standards.
Working in a product-centric development environment, you will bring strong DevOps, Infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineering skills to build, release and maintain services through Development to Production. Operating in Agile Teams and sprint-based release process. Your development will be through a broad range of CI/CD technologies including Azure DevOps, Power Platform, Dynamics, GitHub, Terraform, Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities
- Deploy services using Infrastructure as Code (including Terraform) and an automation first approach.
- Design, standardise and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD & Dynamics pipelines, including testing, security scanning, compliance checks and reusable templates.
- Support release and application life cycle management processes by deploying artifacts and solutions across multiple environments.
- Apply cloud security best practice, support audits and ensure services meet compliance requirements.
- Optimise platform performance, reliability, cost and operational efficiency through proactive monitoring and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex engineering issues and share best practice across teams.
- Provide hands on support and mentorship across teams, helping to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Develop, enhance and maintain solutions that put the user and user experience first.
- Foster continuous improvement of services through identification and implementation of strategic end-to-end system improvements.
- Demonstrate leadership by providing influence, direction, and guidance to Engineers and Developers to support the delivery of objectives.
