DWP has an ambitious programme of welfare reform which is transforming the way we deliver services to the public. At the same time, we have a real focus on the way we work internally – breaking down our organisation boundaries to deliver better outcomes for citizens – and connecting our diverse community behind a shared sense of purpose and culture.

In this role, you will join a small team of expert Organisation Design and Development (ODandD) Practitioners who support priority transformation activity across DWP – at a whole organisation level and within our major change programmes and business areas. You will lead the design and delivery of high impact ODandD interventions as well as advising on and supporting the implementation of smaller scale activity and building ODandD capability in the wider DWP community. You will often work directly with a “client” Director General or Director, advising them on the best approach to meet their goals, including helping them to get beyond the presenting issues.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Drawing on ODandD methodologies, you will plan and deliver approaches that enable client teams to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • You will promote an approach that is wholly consultative – ensuring people at all levels have a voice in shaping the future.
  • You will also ensure that design within the system is grounded in agreed organisation design principles and aligned to the Department's emerging Operating Model.
  • You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside roles such as HR Business Partners, change and business experts and you will be adept at building strong working relationships to enable you to use your expertise to achieve maximum impact.

Credible and visible leadership, strategic thinking, resilience and excellent facilitation skills are critical to being successful in the role. Experience of delivering Organisation Design and Development activity is a pre-requisite. Frequent travel across the country is required in the role to deliver this work effectively.
