The Department for Transport (DfT) is a high-profile department at the heart of UK government. We work with agencies and partners to support the transport network, getting people and goods around the country. We plan and invest to make journeys better.

The purpose of the Culture and Capability Division is to enable the DfT to equip our people with the skills and positive working environment needed for everyone to thrive and achieve their best. The division brings together a number of different teams all working towards making DfT an inclusive and high performing organisation.

Within the division we have teams focusing on:

  • Capability, Skills and Inclusion projects to define how we attract and develop the skills and diverse talent we need for now and into the future.
  • Design of Culture and Leadership development initiatives aimed at creating the optimum environment for high performance.
  • Performance evaluation and insights to inform the design of future culture and capability building work and ensure the effective running of existing services.
  • Delivery of learning, talent, apprenticeship, inclusion, wellbeing and engagement services.

We are looking for a Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Services Lead to lead the continuous improvement and delivery of an ongoing wellbeing, diversity and inclusion activities offer for all staff, working closely with stakeholders throughout the organisation. We are looking for someone with excellent stakeholder management skills who is also adaptable as the internal and external environments evolve, and someone who is resilient and able to manage resistance to change.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Lead on timely and accurate budget management of the D&I and wellbeing budget throughout the year – monitoring contract spend, highlighting risks and forecasting.
  • Overseeing delivery and embedding of actions in the DfTc Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy and Pay Gap reports and gathering feedback to inform future direction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including staff networks and executive agencies to provide ongoing engagement and operational support.
  • Build strong relationships with Staff Networks and SCS Champions to provide ongoing support to deliver their action plans in line with DfTs strategic EDI priorities.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the HR Team to ensure an integrated approach to D&I and wellbeing activities.
  • Procurement, contract and supplier management of diversity, inclusion and wellbeing service providers.
  • Support the facilitation and delivery of learning sessions such as Active Bystander and Management 101.
  • Develop strong and coherent plans for the delivery of activities, working closely with the rest of the team to prioritise work and manage resources to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
