As part of the Connected and Automated Mobility Services (CAMS) team, the product specialist role will support CAMS development. The DVSA CAMS products cover Driver, Vehicle and Regulatorily services within the Automated Vehicle Act implementation programme, to deliver services within DVSA. As a CAMS Driver product specialist, you will support the development, integration and implementation of various CAMS Driver products into the relevant DVSA services. This will include working closely with DVSA driver policy colleagues and the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA), developing automated vehicle driving standards and policy.

The role will closely interact with DfT (Department for Transport), CCAV (Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles) and DVSA teams including Policy, Operations, Enforcement, & Digital. Our rapidly evolving technical environment means this role will require a proactive and flexible approach to personal development to keep up to date with this changing technology, its use cases & the GB government's objectives. The post holder will need to develop policies by understanding the legislation that will govern the CAMS driver product workstream.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Workstream Product Manager and other product managers, supporting the development and delivery of the CAMS product(s) to meet the agreed objectives.
  • Working with the product manager to design and develop product(s) from inception of legislation through to implementation and if necessary, closure. This includes responses to technical progress, legislative changes and customer‑led demand to improve the overall effectiveness of the product(s) and service provision.
  • Providing expert technical product/policy advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders and customers/end users on any component of the product lifecycle.
  • Building good relationships with all team members and communicating politely and promptly to internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure continuous improvement and that the requirements of the CAMS objectives are met.
