Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. It also aims to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain. The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK through work on counter‑terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

International and Returns Service Command (IRSC) is part of Immigration Enforcement (IE) and contributes to the IE mission of maximising returns of immigration offenders and Foreign National Offenders from the UK. This role is part of the IRSC Operational Portfolio Team which provides a key project management function for a command of over 400 operational delivery staff located across the UK and abroad.

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing complex projects from inception to completion. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Leading Business Case development to include the preparation, development, commissioning and updating of the business cases to justify the initiation and continuation of projects in terms of benefits, value for money and risk.
  • Developing detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinating and communicating with stakeholders, including operational leads, team members, commercial and finance colleagues and senior management, to ensure project alignment and transparency.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitoring project progress and performance, providing regular updates and reports to stakeholders.
  • Fostering a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full‑time basis. However, compressed hours are available.
