Can you lead a discussion conveying complex information in a way people can understand? Do you have a passion for using data visualisations to bring data to life? The DVSA has an exciting new opportunity to join our existing team in the Digital and Data directorate. As DVSA is going through redesigning its teams and services to be more service led, there’s never been a better time to join the DVSA. The role will support DVSA’s mission to: “Keeping Britain moving safely and sustainably”. Our Digital-first vision is supported by a clear strategy which allows our staff to develop and grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Build reports and dashboards alongside analysis of data from DVSA’s databases using Power BI and other tools.
  • Deliver data and information that supports the planning and decision-making process and provide insight to the business.
  • Collaborate with others to develop new regular reporting, run ad-hoc and existing reports, extract data in accordance with user specifications and provide statistical information for publication and in response to freedom of information or subject access requests.
  • Produce new, regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards, liaising with customers to establish report content, format and timescale where required.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and ensure business value is added to DVSA data by analysing it and reporting it in the best way to meet customer needs.
  • Produce accurate analysis which is easy to understand and provides guidance and insight to decision makers.
  • Report on an exception basis only, highlighting any relevant trends and hotspots.
  • Undertake quality assurance of reports and outputs where production is undertaken by other members of the team.
  • Provide appropriate responses to freedom of information requests and subject access requests within the guidance standards set by the information commissioner.
  • Provide responses and supporting information required for the collation of replies to Parliamentary Questions, Chief Executive replies and press enquiries.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to ensure reporting and analysis continues to meet their needs, continuously make improvements while still managing their expectations.
