Role
As an Approvals Technical Officer, you will be responsible for processing technical applications for Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA), Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF), and Motorcycle Individual Vehicle Approval (MSVA). You will be responsible for checking reports and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, evaluating technical reports, and creating/updating model reports used by vehicle examiners, therefore, ensuring consistency and accuracy in vehicle assessments.
Providing technical support is an essential aspect of the role, where you will advise frontline staff, operators, manufacturers, trade organisations, and members of the public on certification and regulatory matters. You will also monitor testing processes to identify potential risks and inefficiencies and investigate solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Providing technical support to the clerical processing team and an advisory service to customers.
- Assessing approval applications covering a range of vehicles, checking reports and supporting documentation for compliance.
- Communicating positively and effectively with internal and external customers to fully understand their requirements, ensuring a concise accurate response is delivered.
- Working with the Approvals Technical Team and other teams within the Customer Service Centre to share ideas and promote best practice.
- Providing support to the Approvals Process Manager, representing DVSA at trade events and to carry out ad hoc related tasks.
