This posting will be used to fill 4 auxiliary on-call positions working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 6-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions within Yukon EMS. This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.
The Yukon’s Emergency Medical Services (YEMS) team delivers a wide scope of pre-hospital care. We deliver medical interventions, treatments, and quality care in every corner of the Yukon. Leadership, dedication, and partnership guide our work.
This position is responsible for providing advanced pre-hospital care to residents and visitors to the Yukon, utilizing Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) education and Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. This care is provided in ground ambulance operations with Yukon EMS.

- Completion of a hospital-based or other recognized Advanced Care Paramedic education/program.
- Recent experience providing pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical treatment and transportation.
Desired knowledge, skills and suitability: If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Experience working with allied agencies (e.g., Police, Fire, Health Care Professionals).
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted:
- Valid ACP licence from a paramedic governing body in Canada.
- TB Screening.
- RCMP check with vulnerable sector check.
- Class 4 Yukon driver’s licence (or equivalent).
Job requirements: This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- Shift work, including weekends and standby.
- Travel.
- Wearing a uniform.
- Physical effort, hazards, and discomfort as specified within the job description including exposure to high stress, sensitive situations, verbally and physically aggressive behaviour.
- Working in awkward positions indoors and outdoors in all weather.
- Lifting and transferring patients with assistance, ability to lift to 50 lbs.
