Overview

The Community Safety and Compliance Team has an opportunity for three suitably qualified Community Enforcement Officers based in the Environment Enforcement Team.

Working in a small team, you will target anti‑social behaviour environmental enforcement across the borough, partnering with other agencies and representing the Council at court where necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hotspots across the borough and investigate incidents such as:
  • Fly tipping
  • Dog fouling
  • Littering
  • Issuing fixed penalty notices
  • Penalty charge notices
  • Community protection warnings and notices
  • Assist in the reduction of anti‑social behaviour under the direction of the Community Safety Groups.
  • Analyse CCTV footage and other evidence to build enforcement cases.
  • Influence, encourage and promote behaviour change in the community.
  • Attend court to act as a professional witness and give evidence.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with legislation including the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, and Public Space Protection Orders.
  • Understanding of CCTV use for enforcement and proven ability in an enforcement capacity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and self‑motivation skills.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships internally and externally.
