Operational Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of an effective integrated healthcare service clinical model.

- Maintain systems for triage, referral allocation and monitoring of quality and effectiveness of service delivery.
- Provide intravenous injections, immunisations, syringe pumps and infusions as necessary.
- Coordinate complex prisoner care management.
Management Responsibilities
- Implement strategies designed to promote and improve health and prevent disease.
- Work proactively with other professionals, organisations and agencies.
- Maximise resources to target need, including supervision of staff.
- Delegate responsibility and authority to team members while retaining overall responsibility on a shift-to-shift basis.
- Maintain an effective case-management service to ensure continuity of treatment throughout a patient care pathway for detained individuals.
- Implement accredited care planning tools and processes in accordance with Trust Policies.
- Set up effective interfaces with community and acute health services to ensure continuity of care on release or discharge.
- Actively promote and demonstrate working across professional and organisational boundaries.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Integrated Healthcare Team on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure systems are in place for clinical supervision of junior team members, including annual appraisals and identification of training and development needs.
Governance Responsibilities
- Ensure junior staff comply with all Prison and Trust clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure appropriately skilled staff administer medications in accordance with all relevant policies and guidance.
- Maintain high standards of electronic record-keeping and offender confidentiality.
- Conduct effective monitoring and auditing processes.
General Responsibilities
- Liaise with senior Trust personnel to share expertise, promote ideas and ensure collaboration with other Trust Directorates.
- Work positively and effectively in a difficult and often hostile environment.
- Recognise environmental hazards and ensure staff awareness of relevant health and safety policies.
- Work in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines.
- Be familiar with Prison Standards, Standing Orders, Circular instructions, Notices to Staff, Health and Safety and all other relevant material to function as an informed practitioner.
